Robert Harold Larson, 64, of Duluth, passed away in St. Mary's Hospital, Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Minn., surrounded by his loving family and friends after a short struggle with lung cancer.
Robert was born and raised in Duluth, graduated from Denfeld High School, and attended the University of Minnesota Duluth. He then went on to join the Duluth Police Department, where he took a number of positions, eventually retiring as the Deputy Chief of Police. In his retirement, he enjoyed splitting his time between Duluth and Sarasota, Fla., while being with his wife, Terrie, his children, and grandchildren.
He had passions for golfing, antiquing, mushroom hunting, and always wanted to be with his many family members and numerous close friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Harold 'Butch' Larson; mother Barbara Larson; and brother Douglas Larson.
He is survived by his wife, Terrie; children Brett (Kelly), Jamie (Jon), and Reed; stepchildren Mike and Jenny (Scott); brothers Bill (Karen), Jack (Tom), and Ken; five grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 10:30 until the 12 noon memorial service Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, in United Baptist Church, 830 E. First St., with Pastor Tab Baumgartner officiating. Reception to follow at the Clyde Iron Works Restaurant & Bar
