Adameak, Raymond.   Born 9/17/47.   Died 6/21/00.

Raymond, 52, of Duluth died in St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born in Duluth to Thomas and Evelyn Adameak. He graduated from Denfeld High School and joined the Air Force.  He was a member of Sport Turf Managers Association.
In his 30 years as a city of Duluth park maintenance employee, Ray put his heart and soul into his work and gave totally of himself. In 1986, he assumed maintenance responsibilities for the Wade-Wheeler complex, which soon became recognized among Minnesota's premier athletic facilities.
Ray was honored as Employee of the Month for September 1990, based on his exceptional dedication and pride in his work, his resourcefulness, creativity and commitment to high quality athletic field maintenance. His maintenance for the city included not only Wheeler and Wade, but all athletic fields.
Everyone sought his advice. To his fellow workers, Ray was revered as the 'Turf Guru' and will always be remembered as a true professional, always available and willing to provide assistance wherever it was needed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Katherine White and Lois Adameak; and brothers James Adameak and Bernard Adameak.
He is survived by his wife Dana Adameak; a stepson, Justin Varhalla of Duluth; sisters Eileen (Wayne) Langlee of Duluth, Marge Padden of Duluth, Betty (Bob) Swanfeld of Duluth, Mary Bouchard of Superior and Patricia LeBrosse of Winchester, Va.; a stepgrandchild, Makayla Omime; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.
