We had a great time at Jerry's cabin and it did not rain. Many that were there wanted to have a 45-Yr Reunion next year. What are your thoughts? or do we wait until our 50th?? We need input.... HELP.
I think that anytime we can get together is a good time. I am for it, it doesn't have to be very expensive or anything. Had a great time at Jerry's cabin for the summer picnic, too bad more couldn't have showed up. Find a hotel/motel that has a good sized meeting room and we could all stay pretty much together. Gary
A great time was had by all who attended the 'Summer Gathering' at Jerry and MaryJo Lapcinski's cabin. Thanks so much to them for all their work in hosting it. Thanks to all those who made donations to help us keep our website going for another year. I think that is a vital link to our classmates.
I am not in favor of having a 'regular' reunion for our 45th...which is next summer. We would have to get started right away if that were to happen...and I for one could use a little break from planning. I propose another 'Summer Gathering' or maybe 'Fall Gathering' in three years when we all qualify for Medicare and then have a really special reunion for our 5oth....perhaps somewhere else....like Las Vegas?/or a cruise? ..just a thought.
Love looking at the pictures posted on the web, even though I couldn't be at the party!! Maybe we should have another reunion in 3 years when we'll be 65. It could be 'Class of '65 at 65'!! It would be in between 45 and 50!! Any thoughts??
Hey Julie, I like that idea!! The Class of '65 turns 65... but it could be another smaller Get-Together and then a 'really big' 50th Reunion. Just a Thought. But that doesn't mean we can't get together next year anyway for another Summer or Fall Get-Together, we just need a place to have it, right Gary?
Linda
I enjoy looking at the website. All of you have done such a good job.
I think the idea of Class of 65 turns 65 for the next reunion sounds great!
Who should I send my contribution for the website to?
Pat
I have been taking care of the website, Pat. So you can send it to me at 123 Erickson Rd, Esko MN 55733. Thanks much. I really hope we can keep it going for many years to come.
Linda
Definate;ly would like to get together as we did this year. I believe we voted at the 40th to have 'The Class of 65 turns 65' as our next official reunion---butwe can do what we want. I like the idea of a bigger 50th. As I have stated before, I try to make is home once a summer, and generally am able to shoot for our get together. That's why a reunion someplace other than Duluth does not really appeal to me.
I like the idea of having it the year we are all turning 65 for the class of 65. Just tell me when and where. Thanks for all of the work those of you that still live in Duluth do!
I agree with Bev Wells. I really wanted to attend the get together this August, but was unable to make it. Silly me, I have 12 and 13 year old daughters that keep missing up my plans.
I'M SORRY WE COULDN'T MAKE IT UP TO JERRY'S CABIN THIS SUMMER. IT HAPPENED TO BE ON THE SAME DAY AS OUR SPECIAL OLYMPICS MARATHON IN WHICH WE ARE VERY INVOLVED DUE TO OUR GRANDSONS SPECIAL NEEDS . NO. WE DON'T RUN, BUT WE CAN PUT IN A GOOD PACE ON THE 5K WALK. I THINK A 65 AT 65 REUNION IS A WONDERFUL IDEA. I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE WHO KEEPS THIS GOING, I KNOW IT CAN BE A LOT OF WORK AT TIMES. I'M SENDING A CHECK OUT TO LINDA TO HELP WITH THE WEBSITE. IT'S ALWAYS FUN TO CHECK OUT.
I love the idea of a get together anytime! I really like the 65 mile mark(especially since I reach that mark last in our class I believe!) I must confess that having our gatherings somewhere in the Duluth area is more appealing to me but I can be flexible. Many thanks to Jerry & Mary Jo Lapcinski for hosting us this summer and to Linda Grayson for doing all the work coordinating this website and all the communication! There are many lovely parks in the Duluth area (some with large pavillions!) which could be the site of a gathering. Old age frizbee, a putting contest, three legged races etc. could add to the fun. Perhaps someone clever can come up with lyrics to our theme song 'Ode to Medicare'. Anyway, I'm always up for a party and I'm willing to help in any way I can. Loved seeing those of you who came to this year's gathering!!
First, thanks to Jerry and Mary Jo for hosting the party (great grilled corn, Jerry), Linda, Bev and all others who were part of the planning for the summer picnic. Without your dedication, these events probably wouldn't happen and they are fun!! Thanks to everyone who came from near and far so we could connect again.
My vote would be for an all out effort at 50 (in Duluth), and more casual gatherings posted here and by word of mouth at other times.
Since we seem to be on the birthday theme 60th, 62nd I guess we should plan for the 65th. That would also give us some time to put something together and make plans for the big 50. I like Donnella's idea about using one of the parks in Duluth. There are some very nice parks in the area that might work. Let me know I would be willing to help with the planning when the time comes.
I haven't made it to any reunions since the 10th, so the sooner the better! Since it's probably too late to plan for a 45th Reunion for 2010, I vote for a '65th birthday' which would only be another two years, rather than waiting for our 50th. We may be in Duluth this summer so would like information if any kind of party is planned.
I try to make all reunion events, however I missed the fun at Jerry's place last summer. I for one prefer to go back to Duluth for class reunions. I enjoyed the school tour at the last reunion and I now have my name etched on the tower wall. How cool is that!! I vote for a class of 65 at age 65 for our next reunion followed by the 50 year celebration.
