Lonke, Dennis.  Born 9/17/46.  Died 9/13/20.

Dennis,73, of Proctor passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinson Disease. He was born to Betty and Bernard Lonke. He graduated from Denfeld Senior High School 1965. Shortly after graduation, he joined the 148th Fighter Wing of the National Guard where he served honorably for twenty five years before retiring.

Dennis was employed by Clyde Iron Works Company in Duluth for four years followed by a 35 year career with the DM&IR/Canadian National Railroads.

Dennis was a member of Forbes United Methodist Church in Proctor, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Mark Condon.

Denny’s family was always so important to him and he always treasured the relationships with every last one of them. The most important addition to Denny’s family came with his marriage to Carol Condon on August 16th, 1969 and they enjoyed 51 years of marriage.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife Carol, and three children Chris (Tonya), Katie Mahnke, and Cory (Katie); grandchildren Taylor and Jack Lonke and Ella Mahnke. Brothers Ron (Joy), Jerry, and sister Teresa (Jim) and sister-in-law Laura Condon and Darlene Lonke. Dennis is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews; Karl Condon (Kelly), Lisa, Jennifer, Natalie, Valerie (Bill), James, Mia, and Anna (Joe).

For Dennis, family was everything. His wife and children were so loved and the purpose to each day on Earth. His grandchildren were such a blessing to him and the light in his eye. His family and friends always brought the unforgettable smile to his face. He was a great friend that was always quick to give his time or tools to any task.

There are not enough words to express the family’s gratitude for the care Dennis received at Viewcrest Nursing Facility. It was his second home and he knew he was loved and cared for. The family would like to express their thanks for the outpouring of support from all the family and friends during this difficult time. The support, both near and far, helps so much in times like these.

At this time there will be no traditional funeral services. A celebration of life will be held when circumstances of the pandemic allow us to celebrate the wonderful life of Dennis. Arrangements by Williams-Lobermeier-Boettcher Funeral Home. 3208 W. 3rd Street, Duluth, MN 55806. 218-624-1059.
