Marshall (Rouleau) Linda Mae.  Born 7/3/47.  Died 1/16/12.

Linda Mae (Marshall) Rouleau, 64, died at the Golden Oaks Home in Hermantown, Minn., aftieer giving up her long walk with Alzheimer's.

Linda Mae was born in Duluth, to James L. and Lily Mae (Ranthum) Marshall.

Linda was known for her outgoing personality and her ease in frequent conversation with total strangers. Some may be surprised to learn of the extreme shyness of her youth. She leaves behind so many wonderful memories of her signature gift of joy, beautiful smile, infectious sense of humor and love for not only her family and friends, but others around her. After graduating from Denfeld High School, she married her high school sweetheart, William Rouleau. The couple was married on July 8, 1967. Together, Linda and Bill raised their two dear children, Kamette and Brett.

With a real zest for life, Linda Mae loved to dance, bowl, play games/cards - especially with her kids and grandchildren, visit friends and family, and watch her beloved Vikings.

Throughout her life, she was also a huge fan of hockey, and cherished her 'hockey supporter' trophy playfully given to her by one of Bill's Pee Wee Hockey Teams.

In 2002, Linda and Bill built a house on Fish Lake. While Alzheimer's had already set in, during her days at home, she still loved to go for long rides in her 1979 Red Corvette and be out fishing and sunning on the lake.

Linda is survived by her husband, Bill; her daughter Kamette Rouleau; her son and his wife, Brett and Wendy Rouleau; five grandchildren, Nathaniel, Delanee and Evan Myers, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Ryan and Zachary Rouleau, Empire, Minn.; her adored sister Sharon Vernikos; her mother-in-law Helen Rouleau; brother-in-law Michael Rouleau; and her beloved nephews William, Gregg and Kurt Vernikos, Christian Marshall, Michael Rouleau and adored nieces Annie Marshall, Kathleen Jorgenson , Michelle Rouleau and Renee Rouleau.

She is preceded in death by her father James; her mother Lily and brother James A. Marshall.

VISITATION: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012 until the 3 p.m. celebration of life in the Cremation Society, 4100 Grand Avenue, Duluth. A dinner reception immediately following the funeral. For more information, please call 218-624-5200.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Beyond donations, Linda Mae always lived by the Golden Rule:

Treat others the way you would like to be treated, i.e. Do a loving act of kindness, make someone laugh, dance, and say 'I love you' to your special friend in her memory. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support throughout the years, in many heartfelt forms from too many people to name individually. However, we wish to extend a special word of gratitude and thanks to Laura and the amazing staff at Golden Oaks, Gloria Kaneski, who helped care for Linda at home for much longer than we could have done alone, and to her special friends Char and Helen, both of whom visited her faithfully throughout the long years of Linda's illness.
